You can visit France without a visa for short stays (up to 90 days in any 180-day period) if you’re a UK or other non-EU passport holder. You do not need a visa for tourism.
From October 2025, the EU’s new Entry/Exit System (EES) is being rolled out — border authorities may register biometric data (fingerprints + photo) when you enter or leave the Schengen area (which includes France).
Important tips :
- Make sure your passport:
You may travel if your passport is valid through the whole trip.
However, French/Schengen rules require:passport must have been issued within the last 10 years, and must be valid for at least 3 months past your planned exit date from France/EU.
If your passport doesn’t meet these, you might be refused boarding or entry.
Since Brexit, UK-issued EU pet passports are no longer valid for travel to France.
If you’re coming from the UK:
Do not rely on a standard UK pet passport unless it was issued in an EU country.
Other pets (e.g. turtles or parrots) :
For other pets, rules have changed. You may need an EU Health or CITES certificate. For more information about travel requirements, check France’s official website.

There is no official luggage storage facility in Roscoff at the moment.
You can buy adapters in supermarkets in nearby Saint-Pol-de-Léon, including Super U and Leclerc.

Ferries always depart according to local time (French time).
There’s no currency exchange counter in Roscoff.
You can withdraw euros at the ATMs of the local banks (Caisse d’Epargne, Crédit Agricole, Crédit Mutuel).
The french eating habit is three meals a day. Most restaurants open at lunchtime from 12 :00 to 14 :00 and dinnertime from 19 :00 to 21 :30.

Fast-food places and some cafés are open outside these hours (You will find a McDonalds In Saint-Pol-de-Léon a little city at 10 mins far from Roscoff by car)
One of the main beaches nearby is Roc’h Kroum, walkable from the town centre (about 10 min).
Summer: Bike rental is available at Port Bloscon (book ahead).
Train station long-term parking: free (>48 h).
Some paid zones during 15 Jun–15 Sep.
Blue zones may require a parking disc (free at the Tourist Office).
Rules vary by beach and season — many beaches restrict dogs in summer, but some allow dogs (often on a leash).
